ESSAY 2D Abstract Ink Painting

<<BACK

YOU AND ME . . .
2 panels, 30" x 22" each
Sumi ink and acrylic on watercolor paper
LEMA Art Collection

Gifted to the Lake Eustis Museum of Art in honor of Dr. Arthur Blumenthal with reverence for his lecture and workshop “How To Look At Art!”.

An abstract calligraphy ink painting—the bottom piece painted first, then the circle. I intended the circle to be centered, an exhale in tandem with the slow movement of ink and brush—the circle veered off-center—ha! a reminder about the Zen of intention no doubt.

The paintings paired together reflect my delight for odd, off center pairings, as in life, as in art.

YOU AND ME...
2 panels, 30" x 22" each

The bottom piece painted first, then the circle. I intended the circle to be centered, with one exhale breath and a slow movement of ink - the circle emerged, off-center. A reminder about the Zen of intention.

About the title You and Me…the paintings together mirror my reverence for the delight of odd pairings, as in life, as in art.
