| MY HEART IS OM WHEREVER I MAY ROAM
5' 4" x 4'4" I started this painting in June 2002 before leaving for a month sabbatical in Mexico. Upon returning to the states and reuniting with my beloved method of painting, I found myself knee deep in an outpouring of creativity for weeks on end. Emerging from this immersion and viewing the recently completed works, Om and heart images were evident in several pieces. The yellow brush movement in this particular painting, mirrors (loosely) the Sanskrit ‘word symbol’, for God; Om. My thoughts about the Om and heart images kept returning to . . . my heart is Om . . . my heart is Om, then the soft voice within whispered . . . my heart is home wherever I roam. Ahhhh yes - Being - at home, wherever one roams. Another toast to the holy grail of simply being true to oneself. Wherever. Whenever. With whomever. The poem along the bottom of the canvas, “May the footsteps of my soul always lead me to the doorway of your heart”, was written in Mexico, the morning of my departure, as I was packing and creating thank you notes to my hosts of the San Gabriel Hacienda. Adding the poem to the canvas happened long after I thought the painting was finished. Imagine that! Both image and poem speak of my devotion to the creative process. happy trails! - Brenda Heim, 2002
